What critical illnesses are covered by a critical illness insurance policy?

Which Critical illnesses are covered by your insurance policy really is dependent upon which insurance provider you choose.

The amount and types of different illnesses covered differs between each insurance company.

Here in the UK there are a group of critical illnesses which all insurance providers must cover you for and these are known as the Association of British Insurers conditions or ABI for short.

At the time of writing, these illnesses are:

Heart attack, stroke, parkinsons, benign brain tumor, advanced cancers, loss of speech, kidney failure, alzheimers, coronary artery bypass grafts, aorta graft surgery, traumatic head injury, heart valve replacement, third degree burns, paralysis of limbs, major organ transplant, loss of hands or feet, deafness, multiple sclerosis and coma.
